Road Trip Resource

Long road trips can take their toll on a family, especially when it comes to picking music or what to listen to!  Radio stations fade in and out as you head down the road and often play the same songs on repeat.  Instead of getting upset or having everyone isolated, listening to their own iPods, here are a couple ideas!

1: Work on creating a playlist as a family.  Have each person select a few songs that they would like to share with the family.  Put all the songs on a playlist and hit shuffle!

2: Listen to a book together. Audiobooks are a great way to get everyone engaged in a good story and will provide good conversation starters for along the way.

3: Pandora, Spotify, or any other web-based radio. You can find apps to use on a smart phone that will give you access to these radios without connecting to the internet.  Chad and I have been traveling this week and found a great station on Pandora:   Family Road Trip (genre).   This station had favorite songs that spanned several decades, including popular music, oldies, and a couple Disney tunes (ex. “Hakuna Matata” -Lion King).  The music would be acceptable and enjoyable for people of all ages!

4: Talk, Sing, Play! Spend some time playing road trip games, talking to each other, singing your favorite songs, or making up some new songs!
