Exciting Changes

I have definitely taken some time away from the blog recently.  I have needed all the time I can get and you will soon find out why! Here are some of the BIG changes happening: 1. On A Good Note will be merging with Music Therapy Connections to form Music Therapy Connections, LLC!!!!!!  We are so excited about this big change and the new opportunities it will provide!  Check out the website here! 2. We are moving into a new space!  I will no longer be providing services in homes.  Over the next few weeks we are transitioning to our new location with 3 new studio rooms and a group space we can use! 3. We are offering 4 groups in the fall.  They will include two early childhood music classes, a music therapy social skill group, and a beginner guitar class.  Registration will be up very soon!  4. Celebrating 2 Years in Buisness

It’s hard to believe that we are celebrating 2 years in business today!  My how time flies and things change.  For a recap of year 1 you can check out this post! Year 2 has seen a few changes as well! In the past year I have: Doubled my hours at the hospital Started an email newsletter Updated my business fb page Put out tons of tweets Took on several new clients Blogged every week Put out several new resources Recorded new music Had my first little learners music class Started planning my 2nd little learners music class  Had a booth at a local health fair Join the Illinois Association of Music Therapy Executive Board Put together a series on being a traveling MT  Was interviewed by MusicTherapyEd.com Presented to 2 hospice agencies AND SO MUCH MORE!! Celebrating 1 Year of Business!

This week I am celebrating one full year of owning and operating On A Good Note! This year has flown by! It has been a crazy, but successful ride! Here’s how On A Good Note came to be… If I’m going to be completely honest, I had no intention of starting a business this early in my career. I knew it was something I wanted to do eventually, but I didn’t think I had the resources or ability to do so. When I moved to Lincoln, there was only one music therapy position available in the area and it was only 4-hours a week. I quickly snatched up that position, but 4-hours a week doesn’t pay the bills. I soon contacted the only other music therapist in the area to see if she had any ideas about other facilities that might be looking for a music therapist… it turns out, she was looking to hire a contractor! Celebrating 1 Year as a Music Therapist

Last week, I celebrated my first full year of being a board certified music therapist!  I cannot believe how quickly this year has flown and how full of changes it has been.  I thought this “anniversary” would be a good time to tell you a little bit more about myself, my music therapy journey, and how On A Good Note came to be. I have always, ALWAYS been involved in music making.  My mom will tell you that I was singing before I was talking, dancing before I was walking, and rocking along to every song that came on the radio.  It was never option for me to not go into a music related field.
